What better way of celebrating Thanksgiving 2019 in Brighton-Thornton than going to Barr Lake State Park!

Come to Barr Lake and enjoy a peaceful 3-mile stroll that is the perfect way to socialize ​with old friends and maybe make a few new ones, all while enjoying Mother Nature. Dogs are welcome too! Colorado Parks & Wildlife encourages you to take some time this Thanksgiving weekend to explore and make new memories with the people you love. Turn Black Friday into a blue skies Friday, a green trees Friday, a white snow Friday…a Fresh Air Friday!

Thornton: Mayor’s Food & Sock Drive

Celebrating Thanksgiving 2019 in Brighton-Thornton!

If you are feeling extra thankful for what you have this season and would like to generously donate something to those in need this winter, you can! You can drop off non-perishable food items and new socks until December 12th. These donations benefit those struggling with homelessness. They are especially looking for foods for holiday meals such as green beans, corn, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberries, etc.

You can drop off food at these locations:

  • Thornton Community Center 2211 Eppinger Blvd.
  • Carpenter Recreation Center 11151 Colorado Blvd.
  • Thornton Active Adult Center 9471 Dorothy Blvd.
  • All Thornton Fire Stations 8 a.m.-5 p.m., M-F Visit ThorntonCO.gov/fire for locations.

You can drop off socks at:

  • Thornton City Hall 9500 Civic Center Dr.
