It’s finally December which means the holidays are just around the corner. And it means you can start decorating for Christmas! I know lots of people debate on whether you should put up your Christmas decor before or after Thanksgiving. But now that Christmas is only 20 more sleeps you can definitely get festive! Here are some tips to help you with decorating your home for the holidays.

Keep it Simple

Sometimes the task of decorating your whole home can seem so daunting! So many things to do and now you have to figure out how to color coordinate everything. That’s why I recommend going with a monochromatic or neutral color scheme. This way everything will already match your normal room decor and you don’t need to worry about clashing elements. Another option is to go with the traditional red and green color scheme. These automatically give the room a festive feel without you having to try and balance a color palette.

Another way I like to keep it simple when decorating is switching out some small elements and decor items in the room. Changing out the pillow covers for something seasonal can immediately make the room feel ready for the holidays. Switching out candlesticks or vases with something more seasonal will also help.

Bring Nature Inside

Now that it’s getting colder outside the greenery begins to fade and we spend more time indoors. But that doesn’t mean you can’t bring your favorite parts of nature inside! A seasonal wreath on the door or in front of a window is always a great idea. You could also have a look around your garden and see what’s available! Decorating your home for the holidays with a little sprig of pine or a pinecone is super easy. Poinsettias are always a favorite too, but a vibrant amaryllis is another classic winter blossom that can liven up your home. This beautiful flower symbolizes pride, determination, and radiance. Here are some florists in the Brighton and Thornton area that could help you with flower arrangements, wreaths, or centerpieces:

Light Up Your Home!

You can’t forget about the lights! You obviously want to put some lights in your Christmas tree, but you don’t have to limit yourself. If you have a fireplace, the mantle is another great place for some lights. Lighted garlands are easy to use and can spruce up lots of areas of your home. You can personalize and make them more festive by adding ornaments, flowers, or pinecones. A lighted garland on your staircase and bannister will help your home feel festive from the moment you walk in!

Candles are another great way to make your home feel cozy, warm and inviting during the holidays. Chandeliers and candlesticks are great for table decorations or on your mantle. You could even find some seasonal scented ones and create a festive atmosphere in your home.

Decorating the outside of your home and your garden with lights is always a great way to get you in the Christmas mood too. But putting up lights on your home yourself is time consuming and not to mention, dangerous! Denver Illuminations is a great company that can help you install and take down your Christmas lights!
