During this time when we are all staying inside to stay safe during this pandemic, it could be the perfect time to do some self searching for homes on the internet. Are you really interested in buying a home or is this a goal in the upcoming years? Either way online searching on your own could be a great start. You can get to know what you like in a home and what you don’t care for.

What are some Credible Sites While Self Searching Online

When you are self searching online you might wonder what are some of the credible sites you can use. With me being part of the Coldwell Banker Real Estate this of course is a great place to start! But there are numerous national real estate websites that you may want to search such as Zillow.com, Trulia.com, Realtor.com, and Homes.com. Be prepared to create an account login, and to be bombarded with advertisements and spam emails. Probably the best place to start is a local real estate brokerage or agent’s website. These have a property search engine, allowing you to search just the local area.

What Are You Looking For In Your Home

Doing self searching online is a great tool to know what locations you are interested in and what ones you want to avoid. Do you know if you want to live in a house with a HOA? What kind of amenities are near you if you pick that location? Once you have the location pinpointed for what best suits you, next you will want to start looking at what you need out of your home. Do you need 3 bedrooms or a nice back yard is a must? Searching online definitely saves you lots of time by eliminating homes that you aren’t interested in. This doesn’t mean that a home that you have viewed online couldn’t change your mind when seeing it in person. Always have an open mind when finding your dream home.

Don’t Worry If You Get Overwhelmed While Self Searching Online

Self searching for homes online by yourself first is great to get an overview of potential homes. But it can also become overwhelming to realize how much there is to know about real estate. This is where the value of finding a good real estate agent to help you navigate the crazy storm of information that is out there. I had a client who started looking online and decided they wanted to get a new home. They called me and found out that realtors can be a big asset for buyers with the new home builders, so I went with her to the new home appointment and have been helping her understand the process and we are waiting for her new home to be built!

Finding the Realtor For You

Finding the right realtor for you is key in making the purchase of your house go as smooth as possible. When you are doing yourself searching online, reaching out to a realtor about potential interest in a home is the next step. Finding the right realtor for you can be by word of mouth have you had a friend or family member recently purchase a home in your area? Ask them how it was dealing with that realtor and what pros and cons can they give you? If you are new to the area asking an old realtor that you have worked with in the past for a referral is another option.
